The World Food Research Innovation Forum will not end with the Expo and the next edition is planned for 9-10 May 2016 in Parma, during the Cibus event.  Mr Stefano Bonaccini, the president of the Region, announced it in the presence of the Minister for Agriculture, Mr Maurizio Martina, at the end of the international conference on food sustainability and safety. International experts, researchers, industrial representatives and policy makers took part in the conference in the auditorium of the Italian Pavilion.

At the service of Italy and Europe

“We want the experience of Emilia Romagna to be at the service of Italy and Europe and we do so humbly, but aware of the excellence we have produced. The unique development model of our region can attract skills from all over the world, try to create answers and outline a great global strategy to rise to the planet’s challenge by 2030.”

The starring role of Emilia Romagna

“It is our duty to continue after the Expo and gather the legacy of the Forum,” stressed the Minister. “Emilia Romagna played the starring role during the universal exhibition and it could not have been otherwise, considering the incredible experience of its agricultural model, in which tradition, innovation and technology are combined. Expo is contributing to making this combination increasingly important.”
Mr Bonaccini, the region’s president, signed the Milan Charter in the presence of Ms Diana Bracco, the chairwoman of Expo and the general commissioner of the Italian Pavilion. During his speech Mr Bonaccini expressed his appreciation for the universal exhibition in Milan. “It was an extraordinary moment for Italy to present itself to the world and astonish,” he said.
“Emilia Romagna was the centre of attention,” said Ms Bracco. “The Forum will leave a deep mark. What came out of it is what I am convinced of. Our hands and our minds hold the key to eliminating hunger. Now politicians have to play their part and ensure the planet has a peaceful future.”
