The Regional President Stefano Bonaccini concluded the meeting with the mayors of the municipalities of Emilia Romagna

"Together, we can really continue to be one of the most advanced regions in Europe and in the world. That is what we have demonstrated here at Expo, where we can say that the results have been more than positive. We have demonstrated it through the presence of all areas of Emilia Romagna, and of many companies, consortia and trade associations, showcasing the many excellences of the region. Starting with Ferrari, an example of which is exhibited in front of the Emilia Romagna area". Thus, the Regional President Stefano Bonaccini concluded the meeting with the mayors of the municipalities of Emilia Romagna in the Earth Theatre of the Biodiversity Park.

Beyond Expo

Taking part in “The challenge of Emilia Romagna beyond Expo” meeting, organised in collaboration with Anci Emilia-Romagna, were the Regional Councillor for Production Activities Palma Costi, the Mayor of Imola and President of Anci Emilia Romagna Daniele Manca, Under-secretary Andrea Rossi and the Councillor for Tourism Andrea Corsini.

The participation of Emilia Romagna at the Universal Exposition focused on co-design activities and on joint actions and initiatives with local authorities and areas, in the belief that only by working together is it possible to create quality development that is sustainable from the environmental and social standpoint.

The coming months

Capitalising on this experience, the meeting with the mayors focused on the issue of dealing with the commitments in the coming months: from implementation of community programs to the creation of the States General of the Green Economy; from institutional reforms to the digital agenda. "Emilia Romagna will also keep post-Expo alive with the World Food Research Innovation Forum. We have already decided that a two-day event will be held at the Fair of Parma, on 9 and 10 May 2016, during Cibus," added President Bonaccini.

The results

Assessing the results of Emilia Romagna at Expo, Regional Councillor Palma Costi pointed out that "we can respond to the themes of Expo through our agriculture, industry, manufacturing, training and tourism: great traditions combined with research and innovation. Expo has allowed us to think about who we are and where we are going. We must continue to try to understand how to continue this great journey. The world has a strong demand for our products".

Great opportunity for the Municipalities

The President of Anci Emilia Romagna, Daniele Manca, underlined that "the legacy of Expo, for our Municipalities and communities, is a great opportunity to create new jobs, new economic growth, and also to be proud to belong to a region that forms a comprehensive system and is competitive, not just in Italy, but also at the European and global level. In working together - along the Via Emilia, in terms of water, the environment, and the extraordinary potential of the sea - our local areas can also offer the country a major point of reference in order to recover, grow and create new jobs and opportunities".
